Preparing for a Cryostation Installation

Congratulations on your decision to buy from Montana Instruments! This document will help you prepare for installing the system.

POWER REQUIREMENTS – USER INTERFACE

The computer is supplied with a universal power supply that operates on 100-240VAC, 40 watts

Please specify the type of wall plug required – typically NEMA5-15 for US; CEE 7/7 or BS1363 (UK) for Europe. Adapter is similar to one shown below.

NITROGEN SUPPLY

The Control Unit provides an inlet for a gas used for venting. For a permanent installation, we recommend dry N2. For a temporary installation, having a dry gas would be useful, but not essential.

The gas provided is only used to vent the system after warmup. It reduces contaminate accumulation in the system. Without a dry gas input, it may take longer to cool down, especially if your environment is very humid. There is no long term harm done if you don’t use N2. A normal lab installation should use N2 to get good system performance. Learn more here.

MOUNTING TO AN OPTICAL TABLE

The Cryostat is typically mounted to the optical table with the main housing at 45 or 90 degrees to the hole pattern in the optical table.

The base plate is universal and will work for both metric or imperial tables.
